Ordinary people — We are not superstars. We are simply everyday people, loved by an extraordinary God, who understand that it’s not about us. It’s God’s glory that matters. And yet, in a way, it is about us. We need to make choices every day. Choosing God’s plan or our own. Choosing God’s ways or ours. Choosing a sacrificial lifestyle or a self-centered one.
Empowered by an extraordinary God — We’re amazed by the awesomeness of God, but even more amazing is His desire to empower His people. The grace of God is manifest not only in His calling us to service but also in His power in us.
Multiplying communities of Christ — Life in Christ is not a solo flight. We have been designed for relationship within a Christ centered community. Healthy communities of Christ intentionally reach others with the great news of the ‘Life-Giver’ Jesus then lead them closer to God. Just as the fruit of all living organisms is the multiplication of its own kind, so healthy Christ communities multiply. It is in response to our desire to multiply communities of Christ that we envision a reality where we will be a network of 4 thriving churches in Barrie by 2012.
Here and throughout the world — In The Alliance, “ here and throughout the world” is a given. We cannot imagine a cause that does not seek to reach everyone, everywhere. As ordinary people empowered by an extraordinary God, we’re wholeheartedly abandoned to the call of Christ so we don’t think twice about going wherever He sends us. Across the street or around the world.
